Modbus Gateway

WideIOT Modbus Gateway supports collecting data from various devices with Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP protocols. After edge computing and data standardization via the gateway, the data is uploaded to various cloud platforms and software through the MQTT protocol. It also enables converting data from industrial equipment with non-Modbus protocols (such as PLCs, instruments, sensors, etc.) into Modbus protocol, realizing data interconnection with SCADA software or platforms.

Modbus Data Acquisition

Supports collecting data from various Modbus-TCP and Modbus-RTU protocol devices, and uploading the data to cloud platforms via MQTT protocol.

Modbus Data Forwarding

Collects data from various industrial devices and forwards it to SCADA software, upper computer software, and cloud platforms via Modbus-TCP protocol.

Protocol Conversion

Supports converting protocols of various devices to Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU, OPC UA, etc. Enables Modbus RTU to Modbus TCP conversion, and PLC/DLT645/IEC104 to Modbus TCP.

Cloud Access

Supports MQTT, HTTP, TCP, OPC UA, Modbus-TCP, SQL. Connects to WideIOT Cloud, public IoT platforms (AWS, Azure), SCADA, MES, ERP with TLS encryption and breakpoint resume.

Modbus Gateway Architecture

Why Choose Our Modbus Gateways?

Our Modbus Gateways are designed for seamless integration in industrial environments, offering robust data acquisition, protocol conversion, and reliable cloud connectivity.

Dual-Mode Modbus Support

Simultaneously supports Modbus RTU (RS232/485) and Modbus TCP (Ethernet) protocols for data acquisition and forwarding, ensuring broad device compatibility.

Protocol Conversion to Modbus

Acts as a Modbus TCP slave to convert non-Modbus industrial protocols (PLCs, sensors, IEC104, etc.) into Modbus, enabling seamless data exchange with SCADA systems.

Industrial-grade Reliability

Industrial-grade design: 9~35V wide voltage, -20°C~70°C operation, EMC certified. Hardware/software watchdogs ensure 24/7 uptime in harsh environments.

Flexible Cloud Upload

Upload Modbus device data to the cloud via MQTT. Supports TLS encryption, multiple QoS levels, breakpoint resume, and connection to public or private IoT platforms.

Core Features

Comprehensive capabilities for Modbus data acquisition, protocol conversion, edge computing, and remote management.

Device Networking

Supports 5G/4G/WIFI/Ethernet for flexible networking. VPN/APN security, built-in firewall, multi-network backup, and automatic fault recovery for stable connectivity.

Data Acquisition

Supports Ethernet, RS232, RS485, and I/O. A single gateway collects data from multiple Modbus RTU/TCP devices (PLCs, sensors, inverters) with high-speed, stable acquisition algorithms.

Edge Computing

Supports intelligent acquisition, data filtering, alarm/jump triggers, formula calculation, and grouping strategies. Data standardization eliminates device heterogeneity, saving project costs.

Cloud Access

Northbound supports MQTT, HTTP, TCP, OPC UA, Modbus-TCP, SQL. Connects to WideIOT Cloud, AWS, Azure, SCADA, MES. Supports TLS encryption, breakpoint resume, and open APIs.

Protocol Conversion

Converts PLC, DLT645, IEC101/104, and other protocols to Modbus TCP/RTU. Also supports Modbus RTU to Modbus TCP conversion, enabling device intercommunication with various controllers.

Remote Management

Remote configuration, real-time status monitoring, diagnostic maintenance via WideIOT Device Management Platform. Template-based configuration for efficient bulk deployment.

Flexible Configuration

Customizable collection rules (points, time intervals, communication rules). Supports developer-adapted or user-defined MQTT messages for quick cloud platform integration.

Stable & Reliable

Multi-layer hardware/software watchdogs, disconnection reconnection, and automatic fault recovery. Ensures 24/7 unattended operation with self-healing capabilities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about our Modbus Gateway solutions

It collects data from Modbus RTU/TCP devices, converts non-Modbus industrial protocols (like PLCs, IEC104) to Modbus TCP, performs edge computing, and uploads data to cloud platforms via MQTT, HTTP, or other protocols.

Yes. The gateway features both RS232/485 ports for Modbus RTU and Ethernet ports for Modbus TCP. It can acquire data from and control multiple devices with mixed protocols at the same time.

The gateway can act as a Modbus TCP slave. It collects data from non-Modbus devices (using drivers for PLCs, DL/T645, IEC104, etc.) and maps this data to Modbus registers, allowing any Modbus master (like SCADA) to read it via standard Modbus TCP requests.

It connects to WideIOT Cloud, AWS IoT, Azure IoT, and private clouds via MQTT/HTTP. It also forwards data to SCADA, MES, and ERP systems using Modbus TCP, OPC UA, or SQL, offering flexible integration for industrial software.

Absolutely. It features industrial-grade design with 9~35V wide voltage input, -20°C to 70°C operating temperature, EMC certification, and hardware/software watchdogs to ensure stable 24/7 operation in harsh conditions.
