Solution for Integrating CJ188 Energy Data Acquisition Gateway with a Modbus Energy Management Platform

Published: 2026-05-21 10:54:36

A large manufacturing plant is facing increasing energy costs. The facility has installed a large number of smart water meters using the CJ188 protocol, covering everything from production lines and cooling towers to cafeteria water usage. Due to the large quantity and dispersed locations of these meters, manual meter reading is not only inefficient and causes significant data delays, but also fails to detect pipe leaks or abnormal water usage in real time, creating major challenges for energy management. Therefore, the plant needs a solution that can centrally collect scattered, high-volume water usage data into an information-based energy supervision platform, enabling a shift from "rough statistical" to "real-time lean" management.

Solution

To address these pain points, WideIOT deploys energy data acquisition gateways to provide a lightweight data collection solution. The gateway features multiple RS485/RS232 ports, allowing it to collect data from multiple CJ188 water meters simultaneously. The CJ188 protocol data is uniformly converted into the standard Modbus protocol and then connected via 4G to the plant's energy management platform. This enables functions such as water usage monitoring, alerting, management, statistical reporting, and analysis, helping the plant improve its energy management capabilities and energy efficiency.

Key Features

1. Real-Time Monitoring and Visualization – Managers can view real-time and cumulative water usage across all workshops, key equipment, and scenarios on an energy dashboard, effectively replacing manual meter reading and manual statistics, and establishing a digital management model.

2. Abnormal Alerts and Localization – By configuring edge alert rules on the gateway, when abnormal parameters are detected, the system immediately sends alerts via SMS, WeChat, or email, helping maintenance staff quickly locate leaks and stop losses in a timely manner.

3. Refined Management and Performance Assessment – Generates daily, weekly, and monthly water usage reports, and calculates water consumption per unit of product, enabling independent cost accounting and guiding science-based water conservation efforts to effectively drive water and cost savings.

4. Multi-Protocol Data Integration – In addition to water meters, the gateway can also connect to electricity, gas, and heat meters, achieving comprehensive management of water, electricity, gas, and heat, as well as correlation analysis, providing comprehensive data support for process optimization.
