IoT Solution for PLC Data Acquisition of Sewage Discharge Pumps

Published: 2026-03-17 11:48:20

A certain sewage pump station is equipped with two sewage pumps for a single sewage tank, enabling functions such as automatic start/stop of sewage discharge, operational switching, adaptive liquid level control, and abnormal alarms. The aim is to maintain stable liquid levels in the sewage tank, prevent overflow or dry running of pumps, and extend the service life of the equipment. Now, there is a requirement to collect data from the sewage pumps to enable remote monitoring and control management, further enhancing the level of informatization management and work efficiency.

WideIOT achieves this by deploying the industrial intelligent gateway WG583, which connects to controller PLCs, cameras, instrumentation, and other devices. It can collect real-time data on pump operational status, sewage tank liquid levels, real-time flow rates, etc., and interface with the pump station's remote management platform via 5G/4G networks. This enables functions such as remote monitoring, fault alarms, remote control, remote maintenance, and data analysis, driving the improvement of intelligence levels at the sewage pump station.

Implemented Functions:

Real-time Monitoring of All Parameters

The gateway is compatible with PLCs from Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron, Delta, and others, enabling real-time collection of pump station operational data (such as inlet/outlet water levels, pump unit operational status, motor parameters) and video footage, replacing manual inspections and paper-based records.

Intelligent Fault Warning

Custom threshold rules (e.g., water level exceeding limits, pump unit overload) can be set, and the system automatically triggers alarms via WeChat, SMS, email, etc., and generates data information such as alarm frequency and fault distribution to assist in quickly locating issues.

Remote Control and Debugging

It supports remote operations such as starting/stopping pumps and opening/closing valves, reducing on-site interventions; it also supports remote uploading, downloading, and debugging of PLC programs via the "Equipment Maintenance Express," reducing travel costs.

Closed-loop Management of Maintenance Work Orders

The electronic work order system supports the entire process of work order creation, assignment, execution, and review, intelligently assigning orders based on equipment location and engineer skills to improve maintenance efficiency; work order history is traceable, optimizing responsibility determination.
