Remote Monitoring System for Desulfurization & Denitrification Equipment in Thermal Power Plants

Published: 2026-04-16 11:13:05

A thermal power plant, a key part of a local grid, supplies stable power to highenergy loads like aluminum electrolysis. To meet national environmental regulations and reduce emissions, the plant has installed desulfurization and denitrification equipment. However, traditional monitoring suffers from data delays, high manual inspection costs, and slow fault response. A remote monitoring system is therefore essential to improve environmental compliance and management efficiency.

System Architecture

1. Perception Layer

Sensors and actuators (e.g., SO₂, NOx, temperature, pressure sensors, valves, fans) are connected to the PLCs of the desulfurization and denitrification equipment, enabling realtime monitoring of equipment status and environmental parameters.

2. Network Layer

WideIOT deploys industrial IoT gateways to connect to the PLCs. Data is securely transmitted to the platform via 5G/4G/WiFi/Ethernet.

3. Platform Layer

An onsite local host runs the remote monitoring platform, offering functions such as equipment status monitoring, fault alerts, maintenance management, and report generation for different management levels.

Key Features

Realtime monitoring of equipment status, key parameters (e.g., SO₂ emissions, absorber pH, slurry density/level, circulation pump status, oxidation fan pressure, etc.).

Customizable alert thresholds; automatic notifications via WeChat, SMS, or email when anomalies are detected. Centralized alert management with statistics on fault distribution and frequency.

Maintenance work orders based on equipment status and historical data. Quick access to operation logs and progress to optimize maintenance schedules and protect assets.

Generation of daily/monthly/yearly environmental reports, submitted to regulatory platforms via the HJ212 protocol to ensure compliance with national and local standards and prevent excessive emissions.

Gateway Features

Multiprotocol support – seamless connection to various PLCs.

Data collection & transmission – realtime data capture and secure transmission.

Edge computing – ongateway data preprocessing to reduce platform load and improve response speed.

Security – data encryption and access control for secure transmission and storage.

Remote configuration & maintenance – remote parameter configuration and firmware updates to lower onsite maintenance costs.
