IoT System Solution for Remote Monitoring of Metal Heating Furnaces

Published: 2026-11-04 10:59:09
Heating furnaces are commonly used equipment in various industrial production processes, employed to heat materials or workpieces (generally metals) to rolling or forging temperatures, and are widely applied in industries such as steel, non-ferrous metals, glass, and ceramics.

At present, monitoring of heating furnace operation and fault detection are mainly carried out on-site. A central control room is set up within the plant area, where personnel manually read meters and monitor equipment operating parameters. However, if technical personnel are not present at the production site, they cannot grasp the real-time operating data of the heating furnace, and thus cannot monitor the operating status of the heating furnace in real time.

With the development of industrial IoT technology, an increasing number of enterprises are applying IoT to achieve management upgrades, enabling unified and holistic management of equipment that is dispersed across areas, relies on manual intervention, and lacks networking, thereby promptly identifying anomalies and bottlenecks in production and further improving production efficiency and product quality. To this end, by connecting to industrial intelligent gateways, real-time collection of heating furnace operating parameters can be achieved, along with remote monitoring, alarms, management, control, and analysis, helping enterprises enhance management efficiency and intelligent operation and maintenance.

Implemented Functions

Data Collection: Connect to heating furnace temperature controllers to collect equipment data in real time, and transmit it to cloud platforms or host computers (such as MES, ERP, etc.) via 5G/4G/WiFi/Ethernet and other methods.

Remote Monitoring: Remotely monitor the working status and operating parameters of heating furnaces through computers, mobile phones, and other devices, such as current temperature values, temperature stages, cycle stages, current remaining time, etc.

Real-time Alarms: When the heating furnace operates in a dangerous state (monitored data exceeds warning values), alarms are issued promptly to inform users of potential dangers in advance, enabling rapid localization, diagnosis, and countermeasures.

Equipment Management: Based on data dashboards, manage heating furnace equipment information, equipment data, equipment anomaly and fault information, maintenance records, etc., enabling rapid preview and viewing of multiple devices.

Maintenance Management: Manage information for all networked heating furnace equipment, enabling full recording of equipment maintenance, rapid creation of work orders, and access to information such as responsible persons and work logs.

Data Analysis: Perform statistics on horizontal data (data across different heating furnaces) and vertical data (historical data of a single heating furnace) of heating furnaces, providing strong support for equipment operation and maintenance, after-sales service, equipment upgrades, fault alarms, troubleshooting, and other aspects.
