Solution for Multi-Center Data Reporting from Secondary Water Supply Pump Rooms to Enterprise and Authority Platforms

Published: 2026-06-18 11:32:39

Decree No. 831, the Water Supply Regulation, explicitly stipulates that newly built residential secondary water supply facilities—including pump rooms, pressurization equipment, and pipe networks—must, upon passing completion inspections, be legally handed over to the designated water supply company for unified operation and maintenance. For older residential communities, facilities that have been upgraded to meet the required standards are to be gradually transferred as well. The water supply company thus becomes the primary responsible entity for pump room operations, water quality assurance, and emergency response. This effectively ends the previous fragmented management model, where property management companies handled operations with unclear accountability, and establishes a complete chain of responsibility from the water treatment plant all the way to the consumer's tap.

In addition, the new regulations require that secondary water supply pump rooms be equipped with online monitoring instruments for water pressure, water level, and energy consumption. Data collection frequency must be no less than once every five minutes, and the response time for abnormal alerts must not exceed five minutes. A full lifecycle maintenance record system must be established for all equipment, covering standardized processes for inspections, routine maintenance, and repairs. Furthermore, pump room data must be interconnected with both the water supply company's management platform and the government regulatory platform, to support real-time supervision, data reporting, and emergency dispatch needs.

Consequently, data from secondary water supply pump rooms must now be reported not only to the water supply company's platform (via protocols such as MQTT and Modbus) but also to the water authority's platform (via protocols such as SL651, SL427, and SZY206). Comprehensive integration of all pump rooms into a unified digital and intelligent management framework is increasingly becoming an essential path for high-quality development in the industry. To address this need, WideIOT offers a highly efficient and reliable multi-center data acquisition and transmission system for secondary water supply pump rooms.

System Architecture

1. Device Layer – Each secondary water supply pump room (including pump units, pressurization equipment, and pipe networks) contains PLCs, variable frequency drives, water quality analyzers, level transmitters, pressure gauges, solenoid valves, energy meters, and surveillance cameras.

2. Transmission Layer – The WideIOT industrial smart gateway is equipped with multiple serial ports and network ports to connect to various devices within the pump room. It performs protocol parsing, data acquisition, and 5G/4G network connectivity, while standardizing the collected data and simultaneously transmitting it to both the water supply company platform and the water authority platform, ensuring complete, accurate, and reliable data delivery.

3. Platform Layer – Both the water supply company platform and the water authority platform can parse and visualize the received data, enabling remote monitoring, alerting, management, control, and statistical analysis across multiple pump rooms. This establishes a robust and efficient operations and maintenance mechanism, ensuring safe and stable water supply.

Key Features

The gateway supports a wide range of communication interfaces (serial, network, I/O, etc.) and multi-protocol parsing capabilities, allowing it to collect critical real-time data including pump status, variable frequency drive power, tank water level, pipe network pressure, flow rate, motor current, and valve opening position. It also features industrial-grade design with low power consumption, IP30 protection rating, and wide-temperature tolerance, ensuring long-term stable operation even in harsh environments.

The gateway supports multiple network access methods including 5G, 4G, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet, with features such as multi-network backup, store-and-forward with auto-reconnection, encrypted transmission, and automatic reconnection. This ensures stable communication and data security with local or cloud-based management platforms. The platform dynamically displays pump start/stop status, pipe network pressure and flow, valve positions, and reports on pressure and flow metrics through a visual HMI interface.

When data anomalies are detected, the system immediately sends alerts to relevant personnel via multiple channels including WeChat, SMS, and email, clearly identifying the fault location and alarm details. Maintenance work orders can be quickly generated, enabling timely corrective actions and maintaining a complete operation log. This creates an information-driven, transparent maintenance management system that safeguards pump room safety.

The gateway also supports downlink PLC control commands, allowing authorized managers to remotely start or stop pumps, or adjust the opening of electrically actuated control valves in response to emergency conditions—significantly reducing the time spent traveling to sites. Additionally, through the integrated device maintenance tunnel, remote programming, debugging, and remote upload/download of PLC programs can be performed on geographically distributed units.
