IoT Solution for Smart Airport Waterlogging Monitoring System

Published: 2026-10-28 11:40:30
With socioeconomic development, major airports are facing increasingly heavy and growing responsibilities, while labor costs continue to rise. To achieve intelligent airport management and resolve existing issues, more and more airports are introducing IoT technology.

In the past, airport flood control work relied on weather forecasts, with safety personnel deploying defenses in advance. Constrained by the delayed nature of flood data transmission, this approach often lacked flexibility when responding to sudden weather events and unexpected incidents. For example, whether waterlogging has occurred on a given road, what the water levels are at each drainage gate, and how to coordinate gate opening, drainage, and pump station operations—all these require stronger monitoring and management capabilities to secure more ample and reliable operational room, ensuring airport flood control work proceeds safely and efficiently.

By connecting hydrological monitoring gateways (RTUs) to water level gauges, rain gauges, cameras, and other equipment at waterlogging monitoring stations, the system collects data such as waterlogging levels and real-time rainfall and integrates it into the airport flood control management department's platform. This provides comprehensive and accurate data support for airport flood control management, enabling safer and more efficient decision-making.

Functions

Enables data acquisition from water level gauges, rain gauges, cameras, and other equipment, and integrates the data into the airport flood control management platform via 5G/4G/Wi-Fi/Ethernet—including waterlogging levels, rainfall, water levels upstream and downstream of gates, and rainwater tank levels—presented as visualized data reports or trend charts for easy search and retri.

Enables map-based management and information display for multiple waterlogging monitoring stations across the airport—including perimeter rivers, gate stations, pump stations, key road sections, underpass tunnels, underground parking garages, and flood-prone areas—providing visibility into location distribution, quantity and types, monitoring data, alarm data, and other information.

Configurable multi-level alarm rules automatically trigger alerts via WeChat, SMS, or email when monitored data—such as waterlogging levels and rainfall—exceeds warning thresholds, enabling rapid localization, diagnosis, and corrective action, as well as timely dispatch of personnel and resources to strengthen flood control management capabilities.

Enables data sharing with pump station management platforms and gate management platforms. Through expanded access to control PLCs, the system enables remote monitoring and remote control of pumps and gates—effectively improving response capabilities and management standards while enhancing work efficiency.
