Motor Operating Status and Energy Consumption Monitoring & Alarm System

Published: 2026-08-18 11:42:08
As a primary source of power in modern industrial settings, electric motors are increasingly valued for their long-term stable operation. Real-time monitoring of motor operating status combined with energy consumption analysis provides industrial facilities with safer and more efficient equipment management solutions as well as energy-saving recommendations, effectively preventing accidents and losses caused by motor failures.

Given the harsh operating environments and geographically dispersed motor installations commonly found in industrial sites, WideIOT has developed a motor monitoring and energy consumption data acquisition system based on the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). This system effectively addresses challenges such as difficult equipment management and delayed fault detection. By equipping motors with industrial smart gateways, real-time motor parameters are collected and transmitted to cloud platforms via 5G/4G/Wi-Fi/ethernet, enabling visualized parameter display, fault alarms, remote control, and more—playing a vital role in helping factories achieve digital transformation.

System Functions

Data Acquisition: Connect motors, PLCs, and sensors to the gateway to collect parameters such as temperature, pressure, voltage, and current. Data is transmitted to cloud platforms or local HMI touchscreens via wired or wireless connections.

Equipment Management: Visualize collected data and maintain historical records of motor operating status and energy consumption. Display information including motor model, runtime, and maintenance logs.

Status Analysis: Analyze historical operating data to build a motor performance model. Use this model to predict operational conditions—for example, determining whether a motor is functioning normally, requires maintenance, or needs component replacement.

Alarm Mechanism: When abnormal motor operation is detected, the system automatically triggers alarms. These can be on-site audible/visual alerts, or notifications sent via WeChat, SMS, or email to relevant personnel for prompt action.

Remote Control: The gateway can issue commands to remotely start/stop motors or schedule timed on/off operations, ensuring rapid response to abnormal conditions, improving management efficiency, and preventing major incidents.

Energy Consumption Monitoring: Use power meters to measure motor energy usage and transmit data to the management platform. Through statistical analysis of energy consumption, the system monitors motor energy efficiency and provides references for optimizing motor usage.
