As national policies on energy conservation, emission reduction, and carbon peaking/carbon neutrality continue to roll out, businesses across various industries are launching energy-saving retrofitting initiatives. In industrial manufacturing and power operation and maintenance sectors—where electricity costs account for a significant portion of operating expenses—several challenges persist: the lack of real-time power consumption monitoring, the inability to adjust production schedules to reduce energy costs, and the heavy workload and manual errors associated with traditional power distribution room inspections. Solution Overview

This solution consists of edge computing gateways, an energy monitoring and management platform, and power equipment. Energy-consuming devices—such as motors, power meters, PLCs, robots, and machine tools—are connected to WideIOT edge computing gateways. The gateways handle protocol parsing, data acquisition, and edge computing, and then transmit the processed data to the energy monitoring platform (either cloud-based or on-premise host systems) via 5G, 4G, Wi-Fi, or Ethernet. This enables functionalities including equipment monitoring, fault alarming, remote control, and data analytics, helping enterprises assess their energy consumption profiles and providing reliable data support for optimization efforts.

System Capabilities

Real-Time Monitoring: The system continuously tracks key electrical parameters of power equipment (motors, meters, PLCs, robots, machine tools, etc.), including energy consumption, power factor, current, and voltage, delivering full visibility into power energy efficiency.

Data Acquisition: Edge computing gateways collect data from power equipment, perform cleansing and filtering, and transmit the purified data to the monitoring platform for subsequent analysis and processing.

Alert & Notification: The system supports configurable energy consumption thresholds and alert rules. When anomalies occur or thresholds are exceeded, it triggers alarms to notify users so that corrective actions can be taken promptly.

Remote Control: Through the edge computing gateways, the system enables remote operation of power equipment—such as remote startup/shutdown and parameter adjustments—offering users convenient tools for energy management.

Data Analytics & Reporting: The system analyzes and aggregates the collected power data, generating energy consumption reports, efficiency trend charts, and other visual outputs to help users understand their energy usage patterns.

Energy Optimization Recommendations: Based on analytical results, the system provides actionable suggestions for energy improvement—for example, reducing runtime of high-consumption equipment, adjusting operating modes, or fine-tuning process parameters—to help users enhance overall energy efficiency.
