Remote Monitoring and Smart Management Control System Solution for UserSide Energy Storage Power Stations

Published: 2026-06-15 11:04:09

A city plans to deploy energy storage equipment in public EV charging station parking lots, a water treatment plant, and industrial/commercial buildings. Among these, the public EV charging station parking lots and the industrial/commercial buildings will connect to the power system at low voltage, while the water treatment plant will connect at high voltage. This setup takes advantage of peak–offpeak electricity pricing to achieve economical operation, reduce electricity costs, and effectively enhance the regulation and risk resistance capabilities of the power system.

Due to the large number of energy storage cabinets and their dispersed locations, manual management costs would inevitably be high. Therefore, the city has established an information management platform for energy storage power stations to enable remote monitoring and centralized management of the storage equipment. To address this need, WideIOT provides 4G wireless gateways that collect data from the energy storage equipment and provide 4G network connectivity, establishing a stable transmission link to the monitoring center. These gateways support remote monitoring, alarming, management, control, and statistical data analysis for energy storage equipment.

System Architecture

1. Energy Storage Layer: Energy storage cabinets include BMS, PCS, temperature and humidity sensors, voltage and current sensors, cameras, and other devices.

2. Gateway Layer: The 4G wireless gateway connects to the energy storage equipment via serial ports, Ethernet ports, and I/O ports. It collects realtime operational parameters such as voltage, current, energy yield, temperature, and power, and periodically reports the data to the cloud platform over 4G.

3. Platform Layer: The information management platform for energy storage power stations receives and processes the data, providing functions such as an overview of the storage station, alarm management, operation and maintenance (O&M) management, data reporting, and data analysis.

Key Features

The gateway is equipped with multiple serial and Ethernet ports, supporting connection to BMS, PCS, smart meters, temperature and humidity sensors, voltage/current sensors, cameras, and other devices. It collects realtime device data and supports internet access via 5G, 4G, WiFi, or Ethernet.

The gateway has a rich protocol library, supporting Modbus RTU/TCP, DLT645, CJ188, IEC101/103/104, IEC61850, and many other energy protocols. It can convert these to protocols such as Modbus, MQTT, IEC104, and OPC UA for communication with upperlayer systems.

The gateway supports flexible alarm rule configuration. When abnormal data is detected, it can automatically send alarms via WeChat, SMS, or email, enabling rapid fault location and corrective actions to ensure safe and stable operation of the energy storage station.

The gateway features industrialgrade design with wide temperature and voltage tolerance, strong antiinterference capability, and rugged durability. It also supports functions such as reconnecting after network disconnection and data resumption after interruption, ensuring longterm stable operation in outdoor environments with complete and reliable data.

The platform enables categorized statistics and visual processing of energy data. Through an energy data dashboard, users can quickly view equipment location distribution, quantity and model numbers, operational status, process parameters, and other information. It also allows rapid generation of data reports for comparative analysis.
