Reservoir Flood Discharge Monitoring and Early Warning System Solution

Published: 2026-09-29 11:32:13
Reservoirs serve multiple critical functions—regulating water flow, flood control and disaster mitigation, water storage, and power generation. Implementing monitoring and early warning for reservoir flood discharge is therefore of vital importance. It not only relates to the effective utilization of water resources but also directly concerns the safety of people's lives and property. To address this, WideIOT offers a reservoir flood discharge monitoring and early warning system solution based on hydrological monitoring gateways. It enables data acquisition and real-time monitoring of reservoir water levels, rainfall, and flood discharge flow—supporting timely management, control, and early warning to facilitate efficient and orderly response efforts.

System Functions

Water Level Monitoring – Hydrological monitoring gateway RTUs from WideIOT are deployed at appropriately distributed water level monitoring stations within the jurisdiction to monitor reservoir and surrounding water levels. When water levels reach preset thresholds, warning information is disseminated through multiple channels, with notifications supported via WeChat, SMS, and email.

Flow Monitoring – During rainfall events, data from each rainfall monitoring point is collected in real time to the remote monitoring platform. When overall rainfall reaches preset thresholds, multi-level warning information is generated and distributed via WeChat, SMS, and email.

Real-Time Surveillance – Management personnel can maintain 24-hour real-time visibility into dynamic video feeds from each monitoring point, providing support for safeguarding the safety of reservoir facilities and personnel, and enabling intuitive access to critical information.

Information Dissemination – The remote monitoring platform transmits data to various information display terminals—such as public information boards, household alarm systems, audible and visual alarms, flood prevention information boards, televisions, computers, mobile phones, and other display devices.

Data Analytics – Data models generate predictive analyses of flood extent and discharge flow, enabling emergency measures to be taken promptly—ensuring personnel safety and preventing further losses from flood disasters.
