Solution for Collecting Data from CJ188 Water Meters to BACnet Building Management System

Published: 2026-05-22 11:40:12

In a large commercial building, CJ188 water meters are used to measure water consumption. Previously, manual meter reading followed by data entry into the system was inefficient, labor‑intensive, and slow to aggregate, leading to rough energy management and rising energy costs. A new smart building management system is now being implemented, requiring remote automatic meter reading for water meters. This will improve energy management, reduce labor costs, and support scientific and efficient water conservation efforts.

To address this, WideIOT deploys industrial IoT gateways that can collect data from multiple CJ188 water meters via serial ports, convert the data to the BACnet protocol, and report it to the smart building management system over Ethernet. This enables remote monitoring, alarms, management, control, and data analysis for water energy consumption. It effectively replaces manual meter reading and establishes a digital energy management model, significantly improving work efficiency and management level.

Key Features

1. Real‑time monitoring and visualization

Managers can view real‑time and cumulative water consumption by floor, unit, and area on an energy dashboard. This effectively replaces manual meter reading and manual statistics, creating a digital management model.

2. Abnormal alarms and fault location

Edge alarm rules can be configured on the gateway. When abnormal parameters are detected, the system immediately sends alerts via SMS, WeChat, or email, helping maintenance staff quickly locate leaks and reduce losses.

3. Fine‑grained management and cost allocation

Generates daily, weekly, and monthly water consumption reports, and calculates water usage per unit of product, enabling independent cost accounting. This guides scientific water conservation and effectively drives water‑saving efforts.

4. Multi‑protocol data integration

The gateway supports connection to water, electricity, gas, and heat meters, and is compatible with protocols such as DLT645, CJ188, IEC101/103/104, IEC61850, etc., enabling comprehensive management of water, electricity, gas, and heating energy.

5. High‑reliability industrial design

The gateway features industrial‑grade design with wide temperature/power tolerance, strong anti‑interference capability, and robust construction. It also supports functions such as automatic reconnection after disconnection and store‑and‑forward to ensure long‑term stable operation and data integrity under various conditions.
