IoT System Solution for UPS Data Collection in Data Centers

Published: 2026-05-19 11:09:41

Large data centers often deploy multiple uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units across different server rooms and cabinet areas. These units come from various brands and models, with operating parameters scattered across independent interfaces. Relying on manual onsite inspections and recordkeeping is highly inefficient, making it difficult to track key metrics such as UPS load status, battery voltage, temperature and humidity, and fault alerts in real time. This limits the ability to respond to anomalies and risks effectively. Therefore, facility management urgently needs an intelligent UPS monitoring solution that enables remote realtime data collection, centralized monitoring, fault early warning, and integrated digital maintenance records. The goal is to achieve unattended operation, proactively mitigate risks, and reduce manual maintenance costs.

To address this, WideIOT deploys an energy data collection gateway that connects to UPS units to capture realtime data including input/output voltage, input/output current, battery parameters (internal temperature, voltage, current, backup time, etc.), and more. The data is then transmitted to the data center management platform via 5G, 4G, WiFi, or Ethernet. This allows for unified integration and centralized visual management of all UPS devices, eliminating the need for manual, meterbymeter inspections and enabling timely detection and response to anomalies.

Key Features

Fullrange remote realtime monitoring of UPS operating parameters, with visual status of the data center floor viewable online. Accessible remotely via both mobile and desktop devices.

Automatic alerts for conditions such as overload, low battery voltage, temperature/humidity exceeding thresholds, and equipment faults. Notifications can be sent via SMS, WeChat, or email for timely response.

Historical operating data is automatically stored in a database, enabling report generation and trend analysis. This helps maintenance personnel trace issues and assess equipment lifespan.

Supports remote device status control and digital management of maintenance logs. Enables unattended intelligent UPS operation and maintenance, ensuring stable and reliable power supply to the data center.
