Smart Orchard IoT Solution

Published: 2026-07-08 17:43:48
With the rapid advancement of technology, the Internet of Things (IoT) is progressively penetrating every facet of agricultural production. As a model of modern agriculture, the smart orchard is leveraging the deep integration of IoT technologies to make fruit tree cultivation management more intelligent, precise, and efficient.

China's diverse topography and varied climatic conditions have given rise to orchard economies adapted to different environments. However, orchards are often located in remote areas and cover large expanses of land, making it difficult for limited human resources to monitor every change in real time. They remain highly vulnerable to extreme weather events and pest infestations, which can lead to unforeseeable losses. To address these challenges, WideIOT offers a smart orchard IoT solution designed to enable intelligent, precise, and efficient management of fruit tree cultivation.

The solution deploys a range of smart sensors—including soil moisture meters, air thermometers, soil pH sensors, and light intensity sensors—connected via WideIOT IoT gateways for automated data collection. It enables real-time monitoring of key growing environment parameters such as soil moisture, nutrient content, light intensity, and early warning signs of pests and diseases. All collected data is transmitted to a remote cloud monitoring platform, providing growers with comprehensive, accurate, and reliable guidance for cultivation management.

System Features

1. Data Collection
The gateways collect sensor data in real time and also provide network connectivity for cameras. Data can be uploaded to cloud platforms or local host systems via 5G/4G/Wi-Fi/Ethernet, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and reliability.

2. Environmental Monitoring
Through terminals such as smartphones and computers, users can monitor key parameters—including soil moisture, nutrient content, light intensity, and pest/disease warnings—in real time, with access to data reports and trend charts.

3. Automated Alerts
Customizable alarm thresholds allow the system to automatically detect anomalies and send notifications to management personnel via WeChat, SMS, or email, enabling timely intervention and control measures.

4. Remote Control
The gateways can also interface with controller PLCs to enable remote operation of irrigation equipment, including starting/stopping pumps and opening/closing valves. Managers can perform these actions without needing to be on-site, significantly enhancing response capability.
