LoRaBased Aquaculture Water Quality Monitoring and Management System Solution

Published: 2026-04-14 11:19:13

Traditional aquaculture water quality management relies primarily on manual sampling and testing at scheduled intervals. This approach not only limits the frequency of measurements but also fails to fully capture the dynamic changes in various parameters within the water body. For example, dissolved oxygen levels can fluctuate significantly over short periods due to weather changes or biological activity. Concentrations of harmful substances such as ammonia nitrogen and nitrite can also rise rapidly due to factors like feed input and waste accumulation. If these sudden changes are not detected and addressed promptly, they can directly impact the healthy growth of aquatic life, potentially leading to disease outbreaks and massive dieoffs, causing significant economic losses for farmers.

Leveraging its deep technical expertise in the IoT field, WideIOT has launched an aquaculture water quality monitoring and management system solution consisting of a "LoRa Smart Gateway + Data Visualization Management Platform." With the LoRa smart gateway at its core, this solution utilizes lowpower, longrange LoRa wireless communication technology to achieve realtime, accurate collection and transmission of key water quality parameters. Combined with a powerful data visualization management platform, it provides a comprehensive and intelligent solution for aquaculture water quality management, effectively improving farming efficiency and management standards while ensuring the healthy growth of aquatic life.

Key Functions / Features

RealTime Data Collection: The LoRa smart gateway connects to various aquaculture water quality sensors, continuously collecting key parameters such as dissolved oxygen, pH value, ammonia nitrogen, nitrite, and temperature, as well as water level and flow information, achieving 24/7 roundtheclock monitoring.

Threshold Alert Mechanism: The system presets threshold limits for each parameter. When abnormal data is detected, alerts are promptly sent to management personnel via SMS, email, WeChat, or other channels, ensuring rapid response to abnormal situations.

Remote Device Control: Supports remote control of equipment such as aerators and water pumps through the management platform, enabling remote start/stop and parameter adjustments to maintain stable water quality.

OnSite Video Monitoring: Management personnel can view live camera feeds from the aquaculture farm at any time via mobile phone or computer. Supports multicamera viewing on the same screen, providing an intuitive understanding of onsite conditions to assist decisionmaking.

Data Interfaces and Integration: Provides API data interfaces for quick integration with public display screens or enterprise monitoring centers, enabling realtime data sharing and interaction, and supporting the development of a comprehensive aquaculture management system.
