PLC Data Acquisition IoT Solution for Die-Casting and Welding Integrated Machine

Published: 2026-04-01 11:07:31

The die-casting and welding integrated machine in an automotive parts workshop utilizes a Siemens S7-1200 series PLC as its controller. It connects to digital signals including motor and valve statuses, as well as light grids and limit switches, while outputting digital signals to control the start and stop of motors, valves, heaters, and other equipment.Analog input signals include pressure, motor temperature, and collector temperature, enabling automated production of automotive components.

Now, there is a requirement to collect data from the die-casting and welding integrated machine's PLC and display it on the workshop's MES data dashboard. WideIOT offers an efficient and reliable IoT solution for this purpose.By deploying an industrial smart gateway to connect to the Siemens PLC, it can collect real-time equipment status and operational parameters, and transmit them via Ethernet to the workshop's MES data dashboard. This enables functions such as equipment monitoring, production management, remote control, fault alarms, and data statistics and analysis, effectively enhancing management levels and creating a digital workshop.

Implemented Functions:

  • Collect digital (motor and valve statuses, etc.)and analog (pressure, temperature, etc.)signals from the PLC and transmit them via Ethernet to the MES dashboard, presenting the real-time operational status of the equipment in a graphical interface for comprehensive on-site monitoring.

  • Integrate data into the MES system to achieve digital production management.Utilize real-time data to rationally arrange plans, optimize processes, adjust processes based on parameter changes to ensure quality, and improve efficiency and quality while reducing costs.

  • Support remote operations, allowing managers to send instructions through the MES dashboard or terminals. The gateway converts these instructions into signals recognizable by the PLC, enabling remote start/stop of equipment and parameter modifications, enhancing efficiency, reducing on-site visits, and enabling prompt handling in emergencies.

  • The system intelligently diagnoses faults by analyzing data in real-time and judging abnormalities based on preset rules. In case of faults, it alerts relevant personnel through multiple methods, indicating the faulty equipment, type, and possible causes, and records fault information to assist maintenance personnel in responding quickly and reducing downtime.

  • Analyze and generate reports and charts, such as operational time, fault rates, and energy consumption statistics. This helps managers understand equipment conditions, production efficiency, and energy consumption, providing a basis for decision-making, enabling proactive maintenance planning, extending equipment lifespan, and reducing maintenance costs.
